The story behind the Aggressor glove (FKCP10/FNT/27)
A multi-national manufacturing company recently contacted us to enquire about protective gloves for a particular aspect of their manufacturing process. This process requires blades to be cleaned with a hazardous solvent called Toluene.
First and foremost a glove was needed that would provide full chemical protection against the solvent (i.e. a chemical resistant Nitrile glove). Secondly, the glove would need to provide a high level of cut resistance in order to protect against the blades being handled.
The quickest solution would be to wear a cut resistant glove as a liner to a full nitrile glove, however this is less than perfect as it often results in a significant loss of dexterity and comfort. It also opens up the possibility that employees may forget to (or choose not to) wear both gloves.
Dipped gloves that offer high cut- and chemical- resistance have existed for a while now (indeed Bennett Safetywear have long been a supplier of them), however the large majority of these dipped gloves have fabric backs and so offer minimal or no back of hand protection against chemical hazards.
Bennett Safetywear’s R&D team were tasked with developing a lightweight, dextrous and cost effective glove that would provide a one-stop, solution to all the hazards involved. The Aggressor was born out of these considerations and as such it is yet another innovative addition to the market from Bennett Safetywear Ltd.
